The BMS Blivet
The BMS Blivet Tm has been well tried and tested in the Irish, United Kingdom, Middle East, Asian and Australian markets. Ireland, where the BMS system was developed, is acknowledged as having some of the strictest environmental legislation in the world, and this product meets and exceeds those requirements. The BMS Blivet TM combines the established BMS Aerotor TM with "lamella plate technology", to produce a single tank package of outstanding performance and efficiency.
As a result of intensive research and development with extensive field testing the BMS range has been extended to include the BIivet TM an "all in one" package, featuring Primary settlement. Aerobic treatment, Final settlement and Sludge storage.
The Blivet TM is available in a range of standard modular sizes, and is suitable for a wide range of applications requiring organic waste treatment. The unit is designed to free-stand on a solid base, or can be buried up to deck level.
Unobtrusive
No unsightly open tanks or lagoons - normally buried to deck level with locked lids.
Simple Operation
Can be operated by non-technical staff.
Natural Process
No Added Chemicals.
Easy Maintenance
Simple maintenance functions.
Modular
Units may be placed in multiples (parallel using a distribution chamber) to service larger populations. Additional Units can be installed as required if the usage increases.
Moveable
The investment is not locked in concrete - the Blivet can be removed and replaced with a larger size unit or moved to another site at a later date if necessary.
All-in-one package
Quick to install and Commission - no long lead times and minimal civil works.
Compact
Takes up the least amount of room.
Features:
- Primary Settlement
- Aerobic Treatment
- Final Settlement
- Sludge Storage
- High Quality effluent
- Minimal Maintenance
- Very Low Running Costs
Applications:
- Towns; Housing Schemes; Factories
- Schools and Health Care Facilities
- Holiday Resorts; Campsites; Marinas
- Hotels; RV Parks; Main Camps
- Golf Clubs; Mobile Applications; Schools

- Restaurants & Pubs
The BMS Blivet is supplied in a range of sizes to treat sewage from single dwellings to populations of several thousand with modular units. All blivet units are road transportable and can be container shipped. Permanently containerized units are available for mobile applications, e.g. Construction Camps.
The Blivet may be free standing above ground or be buried to a depth of 2.3m without a concrete surround. Power input, inlet and outlet configurations and colour are according to client specification.
It can be installed as a adjunct to an existing works or as a complete discrete system in a greenfield situation. Innovative use of parallel plate settlement technology provides an excellent Final Effluent Standard in B.O.D., S.S., and NH 3 N combined with an unbeatable compactness, minimizing land usage and installation costs.
Compact
The BMS Blivet has proven itself to be one of the most compact Sewage Treatment Plants in the world. Utilizing "Parallel Plates" (Lamella Plates) in both the Primary and Secondary Zones along with the "BMS Aerotor" results in a very compact unit. The Parallel plates reduce the settlement zones to approximately one quarter the required area of normal settlement tanks. The "Aerotor" or the heart of the Blivet system treats the effluent by a combination of "Active Aeration" and "Passive Contact" which results in very high treatment rates per area required. Three months sludge storage is also provided in the base of each unit. The largest BMS Blivet model fits inside a 40' container and can treat the effluent from a population equivalent of between 400-500(temperature dependent).
Economical
The BMS Blivet is the most efficient means of treating effluent in the low to medium population ranges. There are only two electrical components in each unit. The "Main Drive Motor" and a "Sludge Return Pump". The motor sizing on a 400 Population Equivalent unit is 0.75 Kw three phase (single phase also available). The total electrical consumption of this size unit per day is approximately 13 Kw.Hrs. This is approximately 1/4 of the electrical consumption of a similar sized extended aeration plant.
Efficient
The BMS blivet utilizes the patented BMS "Aerotor" as its main central treatment section. The "Aerotor" although looking like an RBC is in fact a combination of two types of treatment systems, "Active Aeration" (similar to activated sludge) and "Passive Contact" (similar to filter media/RBC systems) treatment. The treatment sections are composed of drums with a very large surface area inside (Patented design). The effluent is drawn in via holes in its periphery. Once inside it passes through the maze of surfaces. The combined effect of being mixed with the air and passing over the bacterial surfaces gives the "efficient" treatments as outlined above. Normal treatment standards are 20 mg/L BOD & 30 mg/L SS although higher standards can be obtained if required.
Low Maintenance
Weekly inspections to check for biomass growth
Monthly greasing of the main bearings and general inspection of main components.
3 Monthly removal of sludge from the sludge storage area.
Yearly change of oil in the drive motor gearbox.
No specialist personnel are required to operate the Blivet.
Mobile
Blivets can be utilized for permanent installations or for mobile applications. Some previous mobile applications include sewage treatment for army camps as well backup unit for STP's during overload periods. Specialist units installed in insulated, air-conditioned containers have been supplied for mobile oil fields in the Middle East.
Head Gain
The effluent leaving a Blivet is higher than the effluent entering it (150 mm higher). This is a result of the head gain provided by the first "Rotor". Advantages of head gain include the extra capability of approx. 250m gravity discharge. Current treatment plants can be upgraded without the need for extra pumping equipment. For high strength effluents the units can be connected in series without extra pumping equipment.
